Students will continue to dive into their book club and on deck books! They are required to read the pages that have been mapped out on their calendars. If they do not finish their reading during independent reading time, they will be required to read it for homework. We will continue meeting in our book clubs and small groups throughout the week.
5th Grade Newsletter: October 13, 2017
This newsletter is a digest of all 5th Grade news stories posted for the week ending on Friday, October 13.
This week, we will be completely finishing our saint papers and speeches in preparation for our living wax museum! Once the speeches have been written, students will need to practice them at home! They will be given a note card to write their speech on, but I want them to attempt to memorize it and only have their note cards for backup!
We will continue to work with the different systems in our bodies! We have completed the Circulatory System and will be moving into the Skeletal and Muscular Systems this week. The students seem to love to see everything it takes to make our bodies function!
This week, students will be taking their Mid-Atlantic States test on Tuesday, and the test over the New England and Mid-Atlantic States combined on Wednesday. They will be able to take a practice test for both of these tests in class, but it will be beneficial for them to study at home as well! If they score a 96% or higher on the practice tests, they will not have to take the actual test.
This week, we will be focusing on Unit 7. Words and sentences will be due on Thursday, and the spelling test will also be on Thursday.
This week, we will be continuing our work with personal narratives. The students have been working diligently to write their drafts. We will continue with this and transition into editing and revising as well.
